75 × Cilician winter aconites

Eranthis cilicica, or winter aconite, is a cheerful early-season bulb that produces bright yellow flowers close to the ground. It is ideal for rock gardens, borders, woodland-style planting, and naturalizing beneath deciduous trees.

The sunny flowers can brighten the garden when few other plants are in bloom. Planting winter aconite in groups creates a natural carpet effect and provides an early source of nectar for pollinating insects.

Watering and Care

Water regularly while the plant is actively growing, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogged soil.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.

Location

Choose a sunny to partially shaded location with well-draining soil.

Tip

Plant bulbs in groups for a natural-looking display. These early bloomers are especially effective when allowed to spread gradually.
