Plant Quality and Establishment Guarantee

At Garden Plants for Sale, we place the highest importance on the health and quality of every plant. Each plant is carefully inspected twice before shipping to ensure you receive strong and thriving plants.

Plants are living organisms and need proper care. Make sure to water them regularly and use appropriate soil amendments or fertilizers to encourage healthy growth.

Plant Condition Upon Delivery

Our plants are available year-round, which means some may not be at their peak when they reach you. For example, perennials may have been pruned at the nursery after flowering to promote root growth and encourage new blooms. This may temporarily affect their appearance but is essential for long-term plant health.

When Does the Establishment Guarantee Apply?

The establishment guarantee from Garden Plants for Sale applies only when plants are planted directly in the ground outdoors.

Exclusions

The guarantee does not cover:

  • Plant loss due to drought or dehydration
  • Damage caused by pests or fungal infections
  • Improper use of plant protection products
  • Harsh winters (our website indicates if a plant is winter-hardy; this refers to mature plants. Young plants are more vulnerable to cold)
  • Hedges planted without stakes or support wires
  • Trees planted without stakes and tree ties
  • Roots drying out before planting
  • Plants grown in pots or raised beds

Transport costs are never included in the guarantee. Compensation is limited to the invoice value of the plant(s).

Guarantee Period

  • Bare root or balled trees, shrubs, and hedges: guaranteed until May 1; planting season runs from November to the end of March. If immediate planting is not possible, precautions must be taken.
  • Potted plants: 2 months from the day of delivery
  • Bulbs: from the day of delivery until the end of the flowering season

Replacement Procedure

  1. Report any growth issues within the guarantee period via email: [email protected]
  2. Include photos: the entire plant, close-ups, and the location in the garden
  3. We will review the issue with you and provide guidance for the next steps
  4. If the issue falls within our establishment guarantee, the plant(s) will be replaced

Temporary Storage of Plants

If you cannot plant immediately:

  • Keep plants in a sheltered location, out of direct sun and wind, and maintain soil moisture
  • Balled plants: cover with plastic or jute and store frost-free
  • Bare root plants: either cover and store frost-free, or temporarily plant them with roots fully covered in soil; roots must remain moist
  • Potted plants: avoid placing in overly warm locations to prevent drying and stress

Plant Passport

Every plant comes with a plant passport, a required document for legal transport and sale within the EU. It contains species, origin, and phytosanitary information, ensuring traceability to the original nursery.
