Wolf’s-bane

Aconitum lycoctonum is a striking woodland perennial valued for its graceful spikes of soft yellow flowers that create elegant vertical accents in natural gardens. Deep green foliage and a strong upright habit contribute texture and structure to shaded borders and woodland edges. This species flourishes in fertile, moisture-retentive soil and performs best in partial shade. Long-lived, resilient, and requiring little maintenance, it is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking reliable beauty in cooler areas of the landscape.

Care/Water

Water Aconitum lycoctonum regularly. Keep the soil slightly moist, avoiding waterlogging that can damage roots. Water in the morning or evening to minimize evaporation.

Maintenance

Remove weeds regularly and trim dead leaves and flowers. Light spring fertilization supports healthy shoots and strong flowering.

Location

Prefers partial to full shade, protected from strong midday sun. Keep soil well-draining.
