Lily of the Nile 'Donau'

Agapanthus 'Donau' captivates with its intense blue-violet flower clusters that float gracefully above the foliage on tall, sturdy stems. Flowering freely throughout summer, this vigorous variety pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses and other sun-loving perennials, creating elegant combinations in borders. Warm, sunny locations and fertile, well-drained soil provide the ideal growing conditions for exceptional performance. Combining resilience with remarkable flowering power, it offers reliable colour and sophistication for many years.

Care/Water

Agapanthus 'Donau' requires regular watering throughout the growing season to keep the soil slightly moist. Avoid waterlogging, as it can damage the roots. Watering in the morning or evening is ideal, especially during hot summer days, to provide optimal care.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers and yellow leaves to encourage healthy growth. Trim damaged plant parts so that energy is directed to new shoots and blooms. Light spring fertilization supports strong flower stems and healthy foliage.

Location

Prefers sunny to partially shaded locations. Soil should be well-draining, nutrient-rich, and kept evenly moist to allow the plant to thrive.

Tip

Check soil moisture regularly to avoid over- or under-watering. Mulching helps retain moisture longer and reduces weed growth, providing additional protection for the plant.
