Hollyhock 'Simplex'

Alcea rosea 'Simplex' develops large single flowers in vibrant colours along tall flower stems and gives the garden a traditional cottage garden character. The long flowering period in summer creates impressive vertical accents. With its stately growth, this hardy hollyhock is ideal for sunny borders, fences, and house walls and is frequently visited by bees.

Watering and Care

Alcea rosea 'Simplex' performs best in well-drained garden soil that retains some moisture without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, regular watering helps the plant remain healthy and encourages strong flowering. Once established, it becomes more resilient, but consistent care will always result in the most attractive growth.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage on a regular basis to keep the plant looking tidy. Cutting back old stems in spring encourages fresh new growth and helps maintain a neat habit.

Location

A position in full sun or light partial shade is ideal. Rich, loose soil with good drainage allows the plant to develop fully and produce abundant blooms.
