Western mugwort

Artemisia ludoviciana is valued for its shimmering silver foliage, which brings freshness and contrast to sunny gardens even during the hottest months of the year. Soft, velvety leaves create beautiful texture in Mediterranean borders, gravel gardens, and drought-tolerant planting schemes while remaining ornamental throughout the season. It flourishes in full sun and well-drained soil, where it develops into a dependable, low-maintenance perennial. Its elegant foliage provides year-round structure and visual balance.

Care/Water

Artemisia ludoviciana requires regular, even watering during the growing season. Keep the soil slightly moist, avoid waterlogging, and water especially on hot, dry days in the morning or evening for optimal care.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded leaves and old shoots. Lightly prune after flowering to encourage compact growth and healthy plant density. Light spring fertilization supports vigorous growth and strong stems.

Location

Prefers sunny to partially shaded spots with well-draining, humus-rich soil. Ideal for perennial borders, natural gardens, or herb areas where the silvery-green foliage stands out.
