Aster 'Harry Schmidt'

Aster ageratoides 'Harry Schmidt' forms dense cushions of healthy dark green foliage and produces an abundance of small, light violet flowers in autumn. The compact growth habit makes this hardy autumn aster ideal for border edges, perennial beds, and naturalistic plantings. Its late flowering provides bees and butterflies with valuable nectar well into the gardening season.

Watering and Care

Aster ageratoides 'Harry Schmidt' grows best in well-drained soil that remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, additional watering helps maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering. Avoid overly wet conditions, as constantly saturated roots may reduce plant vigor.

Maintenance

Regularly removing faded flowers helps extend the display and keeps the plant looking tidy. Old stems and foliage can be cut back in early spring to encourage fresh new growth.

Location

A position in full sun or partial shade provides ideal growing conditions. Good light levels combined with suitable soil will encourage strong growth and reliable flowering.
