Tatarian aster 'Jindai'

Aster tataricus 'Jindai' is one of the tallest and most impressive autumn asters, producing towering stems topped with numerous soft violet flowers. Its commanding stature makes it ideal as a specimen plant or background feature in spacious perennial borders and naturalistic gardens. It grows well in fertile soil with sun or light shade, where it flowers abundantly late in the season. The late blooms provide valuable nectar for bees and other pollinating insects when few other flowers remain.

Care/Water

Aster tataricus 'Jindai' requires consistent watering throughout the growing season. Keep the soil moist but well-draining to prevent root rot. During hot summer months, water in the early morning or late afternoon to reduce evaporation.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to prolong flowering. Prune old or weak stems in spring to encourage new growth. Occasional fertilization promotes abundant blooms.

Location

Thrives best in full sun to partial shade with humus-rich, well-draining soil. Perfect for perennial borders, beds, and natural-style gardens.

Tip

Apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and protect roots from heat. This helps keep the plant healthy and blooming abundantly.
