Tongol aster 'Berggarten'

Aster tongolensis 'Berggarten' brings vibrant spring colour with its large violet-blue flowers surrounding bright golden-yellow centres. One of the earliest flowering asters, it brightens rock gardens, alpine beds, and sunny perennial borders long before most autumn asters begin to bloom. It flourishes in freely draining soil and develops into a hardy perennial with excellent longevity. The early blossoms provide valuable nectar for bees emerging at the start of the gardening season.

Care/Water

Aster tongolensis 'Berggarten' requires consistent watering during the growing season. Keep the soil moist but well-draining. Water preferably in the morning or late afternoon, especially during hot summer months.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to prolong flowering. Light pruning in spring promotes new growth and strong blooms. Fertilizing in spring further supports the plant.

Location

Prefers sunny to partially shaded spots with humus-rich, well-draining soil. Ideal for perennial borders, beds, and natural-style gardens.

Tip

Mulch around the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and protect roots from heat. This keeps the plant healthy and blooming abundantly.
