Turban aster

Aster turbinellus is appreciated for its open growth habit and countless small lavender-blue flowers that continue flowering well into autumn. The airy structure blends naturally into prairie gardens, wildlife plantings, and spacious perennial borders while adding softness and movement to the landscape. Best grown in sunny locations with well-drained soil, it develops into a vigorous and dependable perennial. Its late flowering extends seasonal colour when many other plants have already faded.

Care/Water

Aster turbinellus requires consistent watering during the growing season. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged to prevent root rot. Water in the morning or evening, especially during dry summer periods.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to extend the flowering period. Prune old or weak stems in spring. Occasional fertilization supports vitality and abundant blooms.

Location

Thrives in sunny to partially shaded spots with humus-rich, well-draining soil. Ideal for borders, perennial beds, and natural-style gardens.

Tip

Apply a mulch layer around the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and protect roots from heat. This helps the plant remain healthy and bloom for a long time.
