Astilbe 'Red Sentinel'

Astilbe japonica 'Red Sentinel' delights with strong red upright flower plumes that create intense colour accents in early summer. The glossy dark green foliage forms a beautiful contrast with the bright flowers and remains decorative for a long time. This compact perennial is ideal for semi-shaded borders and moist garden areas.

Watering and Care

Astilbe japonica 'Red Sentinel' grows best in well-drained soil that remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, additional watering helps maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering. Avoid overly wet conditions, as constantly saturated roots may reduce plant vigor.

Maintenance

Regularly removing faded flowers helps extend the display and keeps the plant looking tidy. Old stems and foliage can be cut back in early spring to encourage fresh new growth.

Location

A position in full sun or partial shade provides ideal growing conditions. Good light levels combined with suitable soil will encourage strong growth and reliable flowering.
