Masterwort 'Moulin Rouge'

The intensely dark red flowers of Astrantia major 'Moulin Rouge' create a striking focal point in semi-shaded plantings. The finely marked bracts give the flowers a delicate appearance, while the decorative foliage emphasizes the clumping growth habit. The long flowering period and high nectar content make this perennial especially attractive to pollinators.

Watering and Care

Astrantia major 'Moulin Rouge' grows best in well-drained soil that remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, additional watering helps maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering. Avoid overly wet conditions, as constantly saturated roots may reduce plant vigor.

Maintenance

Regularly removing faded flowers helps extend the display and keeps the plant looking tidy. Old stems and foliage can be cut back in early spring to encourage fresh new growth.

Location

A position in full sun or partial shade provides ideal growing conditions. Good light levels combined with suitable soil will encourage strong growth and reliable flowering.
