Blue wild indigo 'Dark Chocolate'

Baptisia Decadence 'Dark Chocolate' is one of the most distinctive false indigos thanks to its exceptionally dark violet to chocolate-brown flowers. The striking flower spikes bring sophistication and modern appeal to sunny perennial borders and prairie-style gardens. Hardy, drought tolerant, and long-lived, this variety is equally admired for its attractive blue-green foliage, which remains decorative well into autumn.

Care/Water

Baptisia decadence 'Dark Chocolate' requires regular watering during the growing season. Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot. Morning watering is especially important during dry weather to keep leaves dry.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage new shoots and blooms. Prune damaged or old stems in spring. A light trim after flowering supports plant health and maintains an attractive shape.

Location

Prefers a sunny to partially shaded spot. Ideal for perennial borders, natural-style gardens, or as a striking standalone plant. Ensure soil is well-drained to avoid root issues.
