Hardy begonia 'Evansiana'

Begonia grandis evansiana brings exotic charm to shaded gardens with its delicate pink flowers and attractive heart-shaped foliage. This hardy begonia blooms from late summer well into autumn, providing vibrant colour when many other shade-loving plants have already finished flowering. It thrives in humus-rich, consistently moist soil and develops into a lush, eye-catching specimen in sheltered locations.

Care/Water

Begonia grandis evansiana requires regular watering during the growing season. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy to prevent root rot. Morning watering is especially effective on hot days to ensure the leaves remain dry overnight.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to extend the blooming period. Trim damaged or old stems to encourage healthy growth. A light pruning after flowering maintains a neat and tidy shape.

Location

Prefers partial to full shade, protected from intense midday sun. Perfect for shady borders, under shrubs, or as ground cover. Well-drained soil helps prevent waterlogging and root problems.
