Geranium macrorrhizum ‘Olympos’ Bigroot Geranium delivers robust roots and fragrant foliage, with a compact, spreading habit and strong winter vigor. This plant creates a durable, natural feel in any garden setting, bringing a calm, earthy presence to the landscape.
Its leaves unfold with a rich texture, then form sturdy clumps that resist drought and cold. The plant shows a hardy character and steady growth, making it a reliable foundation in mixed borders.
A versatile choice for natural-looking patches, it thrives in sun or light shade and settles quickly into any bed. Enjoy its low-maintenance establishment and steady, enduring presence.
Care and Watering
Water sparingly and let the soil dry between waterings; avoid soggy roots. In heat, deep soak every 7–10 days rather than frequent light watering. Mulch to retain moisture and protect the roots.
Location
Plant in full sun to light shade with well-drained soil. A border or rock garden spot works well, where the plant can spill over and cover the ground.
Maintenance and Tips
Trim faded blooms and prune lightly in spring to maintain tidy habit. Divide every 3–4 years to refresh vigor; avoid overfertilizing. Tip: a gravel topdressing improves drainage and resilience.
The Geranium macrorrhizum ‘Olympos’ provides a charming, low-growing ground cover with attractive, slightly fragrant leaves and charming flowers that visually enrich the garden.
Perfect for borders and rock gardens due to its fine texture and long-lasting color accents in spring and summer.
Draws butterflies and bees and pairs excellently with other perennials and garden plants.
