This easy-care perennial performs best in sunny locations with well-drained soil, where it brings natural charm and vibrant colour to perennial borders and wildflower plantings.
Care/Water
Centaurea atropurpurea needs regular watering during the growing season. Keep the soil evenly lightly moist, especially during prolonged dry periods. Avoid waterlogging, as it can damage the roots.
Maintenance
Remove spent flowers regularly to extend the flowering period. Lightly cut back the plant after the main bloom to encourage fresh growth. This keeps the plant compact and vigorous.
