A hardy, versatile choice for cool-season gardens, this Epimedium thrives in a variety of soils and thrives in dappled light, bringing quiet beauty to the landscape with understated elegance.
Care and Watering
Epimedium pinnatum ssp. colchicum thrives in cool, well-drained soil with moderate watering. Keep evenly moist but never waterlogged; allow topsoil to dry slightly between drinks, especially in summer.
Location and Soil
Plant in shade to partial shade with rich, humus soil. Provide organic mulch to retain moisture and mimic woodland conditions; avoid hot, compacted sites.
Maintenance and Tips
Apply mulch yearly, divide rarely, watch for slug damage, and use slow-release fertilizer in spring. Provide protection from scorching afternoon sun in hot climates.
