  • Ideal as a kitchen herb for Mediterranean dishes.
Thymus vulgaris Thyme (Common Thyme) is a compact, aromatic herb prized for olive-green leaves and a sturdy stem, delivering a classic garden scent. Its fragrance fills the air as the leaves release warm, savory notes, ideal for fresh cuts and herbal blends that elevate many dishes. A versatile addition for herb lovers seeking a reliable, flavorful plant that thrives in sun and well-drained soil.

Care and Watering

Thyme prefers well-drained soil and full sun. Water sparingly, let the topsoil dry between waterings, and avoid soggy roots to prevent rot.

Maintenance

Trim after flowering to keep shape, encourage bushiness, and prune lightly in winter in colder areas.

Location

Choose a sunny spot or container with excellent drainage and good air flow; avoid heavy clay and overcrowding.

Tips

Pinch back regularly, harvest for dishes, and propagate from cuttings to expand a hardy thyme patch.

Thymus vulgaris (thyme) is a stylish addition within the category culinary herbs. With small grey-green leaves and fine texture it adds subtle texture and scent association to any herb collection. Thyme serves as an ornament and brings a Mediterranean accent and an aromatic profile that looks both rustic and elegant. When flowering, it has a decorative added value with small flowers that add color and depth.
