Early crocus

Crocus tommasinianus is one of the earliest spring flowers and opens its delicate lilac-purple blooms with a lighter centre at the end of winter. The narrow, grass-like foliage accompanies the flowers before retreating after flowering. This hardy bulbous plant naturalises easily and provides bees with one of the first valuable food sources of the year.

Crocus tommasinianus grows best in well-drained soil that remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, additional watering helps maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering. Avoid overly wet conditions, as constantly saturated roots may reduce plant vigor.
