Cheddar pink 'Pink Jewel'

Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Pink Jewel' impresses with intensely pink flowers that release a pleasant fragrance and open abundantly above the blue-green foliage in late spring. The compact cushion-forming perennial is ideal for rock gardens, dry stone walls, and sunny border edges. Bees and butterflies are particularly attracted to the nectar-rich flowers.

Watering and Care

Dianthus gratianopolitanus 'Pink Jewel' grows best in well-drained soil that remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. During extended dry spells, additional watering helps maintain healthy growth and abundant flowering. Avoid overly wet conditions, as constantly saturated roots may reduce plant vigor.

Maintenance

Regularly removing faded flowers helps extend the display and keeps the plant looking tidy. Old stems and foliage can be cut back in early spring to encourage fresh new growth.

Location

A position in full sun or partial shade provides ideal growing conditions. Good light levels combined with suitable soil will encourage strong growth and reliable flowering.
