Sand lovegrass

Eragrostis trichodes is admired for its loose, graceful habit and exceptionally fine, wide-spreading flower panicles that bring a natural sense of movement to the garden. In autumn, the foliage turns warm shades of gold and bronze, providing attractive structure well into winter. This ornamental grass thrives in sunny locations and requires very little maintenance once established.

Care/Water

Eragrostis trichodes requires regular watering during the growing season. Keep the soil lightly moist, especially during warm and dry periods. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.

Maintenance

Regularly remove dead stems and leaves to keep the plant healthy. Light pruning in spring promotes fresh growth and an attractive compact form. Fertilize in early spring to enhance vitality and leaf color.

Location

Prefers sunny to partially shaded locations. Ideal for grass beds, natural gardens, or as edging plants. Well-drained soil encourages strong stems and healthy growth.

Tip

Mulching helps retain moisture and keeps roots cool. Cut back the plant in late winter to encourage new shoots and maintain a uniform shape.
