Sea holly

Eryngium bourgatii impresses with metallic blue flower heads and decorative foliage with white veins, which already has a high ornamental value before flowering. The compact growth habit makes it ideal for gravel gardens, prairie-style borders, and sunny planting areas. Thanks to its drought tolerance and winter hardiness, it is one of the easiest structural plants to maintain.

Care/Water

Eryngium bourgatii requires regular watering, especially during dry summers. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Water in the morning or evening to minimize evaporation.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage even blooming. Cut back old or damaged shoots to stimulate new growth. Light spring fertilization supports healthy leaves and strong blooms.

Location

Prefers sunny, sheltered locations. Ideal for borders, rock gardens, or containers. Soil should be well-drained, humus-rich, and nutrient-rich.

Tip

Mulching preserves soil moisture and protects roots. Regularly check soil moisture to maintain optimal growing conditions.
