Achillea filipendulina ‘Cloth of Gold’ Cloth Of Gold Yarrow (Fernleaf Yarrow) is a hardy perennial with fernleaf foliage and bright golden blooms that light up any garden border. Its compact, clump-forming habit suits mixed beds and sunny spots, thriving with minimal fuss.
In sunlit beds, it forms neat mards of growth with drought-tolerant roots and resilient stems. The plant offers long-lasting color as blooms rise above lush greenery, attracting pollinators to your green space.
Easily integrated into naturalistic borders, it pairs well with grasses and perennials. A reliable addition to any plant collection seeking vibrant texture and a classic, sun-loving presence.
Care and Watering
Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. Water moderately while establishing, then tolerate drought; avoid soggy conditions. Mulch to retain moisture and feed lightly in spring.
Maintenance
Deadhead faded blooms to extend display. Cut back after flowering to maintain neat clumps; divide every 2–3 years to restore vigor and prevent overcrowding.
Location and Tips
Choose a sunny, open site. Fernleaf yarrow dislikes heavy shade or wet soil. Regular pruning, air circulation, and a light spring feed keep bright gold foliage vigorous.
Yarrow adds sunny, golden-yellow flower heads and a fine, feathery texture to borders and prairie plantings. The strong color contrast works beautifully with blue- and purple-flowering perennials and adds depth to summer compositions.
Thanks to its compact, architectural growth, it easily creates an elegant structure in flowering gardens and country designs.
