Geranium sylvaticum enchants with bright blue-violet flowers that float gracefully above fresh green foliage on slender stems, bringing a natural charm to the garden. As a native woodland perennial, it is perfectly suited to partially shaded borders and wildlife-friendly gardens. It thrives in humus-rich soil and attracts numerous bees and other pollinating insects.
Care/Water
Geranium sylvaticum prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil that remains evenly moist without becoming waterlogged. Regular watering during dry summer periods supports strong growth and healthy foliage.
Maintenance
Remove faded flowers and dead plant parts regularly to keep the plant healthy and attractive. Cutting back after the main flowering period encourages compact growth and may support a second bloom.
Location
Prefers sunny to partially shaded positions with good air circulation. Ideal for borders, beds, and natural-style plantings in larger garden spaces.
Tip
Applying mulch around the plant helps regulate soil moisture and suppress weeds. Mulch also improves soil quality and reduces long-term maintenance.
Geranium sylvaticum is a woodland and shade-loving plant with light purple flowers that provide a calming and harmonious accent to borders and naturalistic gardens.
