Golden Bamboo

Phyllostachys aurea Golden Bamboo (Fishpole Bamboo) is a hardy bamboo with tall, straight culms and a warm golden hue. It creates a dense screen of upright canes, thriving in sun and well-drained soil for instant presence in any garden. Its fast-growing habit, drought-tolerant roots, and robust vigor make it a versatile choice for windbreaks and property bounds, while remaining manageable in contained spaces. Grown within our sustainable range, this bamboo blends with native plants and adds year-round structure and texture to your landscape.

Care and Watering

Golden bamboo prefers partial shade to sun with rich, well-drained soil. Water deeply to keep the root zone evenly moist, especially in heat; avoid waterlogging by mulching and good drainage.

Maintenance

Prune dead canes in late winter, thin dense clumps, and monitor for rhizome spread. Feed with a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring.

Location and Tips

Plant away from foundations; give room for its arching stature. Use a barrier to restrain running rhizomes and mulch to suppress weeds. In cold zones provide winter protection.
