Potentilla aurea Golden Cinquefoil is a sun-loving perennial prized for its bright, ferny foliage and a crown of warm golden blooms year after year. This low-growing, compact plant forms lush clumps that spread softly across borders, rock gardens, and mixed beds, bringing a sunny glow to every season. Enjoy a vibrant, drought-tolerant addition that adds color and a natural, carefree presence to your garden.

Care and Watering

Potentilla aurea (Golden Cinquefoil) thrives in well-drained soil and full sun. Water regularly in the first year, then it becomes drought-tolerant; avoid waterlogging and mulch to retain moisture.

Maintenance

Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape, deadhead faded blooms, and divide every 3–4 years to keep vigor and tidy habit.

Location and Tips

Choose a sunny, sheltered site. It tolerates lean soils and coastal winds. Tips: mulch in spring, feed lightly, and protect in severe winters for best year-round bloom.

Potentilla aurea 'Ganzerik' brings a sunny touch with numerous golden flowers that continue to delight for a long time. Ideal as a color accent in borders and rock and wall gardens, and a favorite among butterflies and bees due to rich nectar. As a spring-flowering and summer-flowering plant, this compact perennial provides continuous color and structure in the garden.
