The gently cascading ornamental grass sways beautifully in the breeze, adding movement and texture to borders. It thrives in humus-rich soils and develops attractive golden tones in autumn.

Care/Water

Hakonechloa macra 'Albostriata' prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil that is kept evenly moist while avoiding waterlogging at all costs. During dry summer periods, deep, regular watering is recommended to keep the plant vigorous and to ensure its foliage appears lush and glossy.

Maintenance

Remove old stems in late autumn to make way for new growth in spring and maintain plant health. Light thinning in spring helps the foliage grow denser and more uniform, enhancing its ornamental effect in the garden.

Location

Prefers partial to full shade with good air circulation and protection from harsh midday sun. Perfect for beds, woodland edges, or shaded plantings where the plant can develop its characteristic flowing form.

Tip

Mulching with organic materials such as bark or compost helps retain soil moisture and protects roots from temperature fluctuations. It also improves soil fertility and simplifies weed management around the plant.

Hakonechloa macra 'Albostriata' is an ornamental grass with striking yellow-green stripes on the foliage, providing an elegant accent in borders and containers. Its waving leaves add movement and texture to the garden.
