Hakone grass 'Sunflare'

Hakonechloa macra 'Sunflare' stands out with golden-yellow foliage enhanced by striking reddish tones that become increasingly vibrant as the season progresses. Its elegant cascading habit brings colour and movement to shaded borders and containers alike. This distinctive ornamental grass provides exceptional ornamental value from spring through autumn.

Care/Water

Hakonechloa macra 'Sunflare' prefers nutrient-rich, loose soil that is kept evenly moist without waterlogging. During hot summer periods, deep, regular watering ensures healthy leaves and a lush growth habit.

Maintenance

Remove old stems in late autumn to make way for new shoots in spring. Light thinning in spring encourages denser and more uniform foliage, enhancing the plant’s ornamental effect.

Location

Prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with good air circulation. Perfect for beds, woodland edges, or shaded plantings where the plant can develop its characteristic flowing form.

Tip

Mulching around the plant retains moisture and protects roots from temperature fluctuations. It also reduces weeds and improves soil quality, making maintenance much easier in the long term.

Hakonechloa macra 'Sunflare' is an ornamental grass with warm golden foliage, providing a sunny and elegant accent in borders and containers. Its soft leaves create a calm and graceful appearance.
