Lenten rose

Helleborus orientalis opens its large, bowl-shaped flowers already in winter in a wide range of colours from white to purple. The attractive dark green foliage remains decorative for a long time and creates a beautiful contrast with the early flowers. This long-lived perennial enriches shady borders, woodland edges, and naturalistic plantings and is one of the most valuable early bloomers in the garden.

Watering and Care

Helleborus orientalis performs best in a well-prepared garden soil with balanced moisture levels. During extended dry periods, regular watering helps maintain healthy growth and keeps the plant looking its best throughout the season. Avoid overly wet conditions, as excessive moisture may affect root health.

Maintenance

This plant remains attractive with only minimal care. Removing faded flowers and old foliage encourages fresh growth and helps maintain a neat appearance in borders and garden beds.

Location

A bright position with plenty of natural light provides ideal growing conditions. In the right location, the plant will develop a strong habit and display its ornamental qualities to the fullest.

Tip

Combine this variety with contrasting perennials or ornamental grasses to create a dynamic planting scheme with interest throughout the year.

Helleborus orientalis delights with a variety of colors, from white to pink and purple. The flowers appear early in the year and add liveliness to any garden.

It is especially suitable for partially shaded beds. The plants are easy to care for and bloom for several weeks.
