Bearded iris 'Golden Muffin'

Iris germanica 'Golden Muffin' brightens the early summer garden with its brilliant golden-yellow flowers. The large blooms are carried on sturdy stems and create warm, cheerful accents in sunny borders. Its decorative grey-green foliage forms dense clumps that remain attractive long after flowering. This robust bearded iris is perfect for traditional perennial gardens and is a favourite among bees and other pollinators.

Care/Water

The Iris 'Golden Muffin' requires regular watering, especially during dry spring and summer periods. The soil should remain well-drained to prevent standing water that could damage the roots. Keep the soil slightly moist but avoid excessive wetness. During hot days, early morning watering protects the leaves and ensures optimal growth.

Maintenance

Remove faded flowers regularly to direct energy to healthy leaves and new shoots. Trim old or damaged leaves to maintain a compact shape. Light pruning after flowering encourages strong shoots and rich blooms the following season.

Location

Place in a sunny spot with at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. Good air circulation supports plant health and reduces disease. Partial shade is tolerated but may reduce flowering.

Tip

Loosen the soil around the plant to improve water and oxygen access to the roots. A thin layer of mulch helps retain moisture and simplifies maintenance.

Iris germanica 'Golden Muffin' combines fresh green foliage with flowers that have a warm golden hue, giving borders a cheerful accent. The foliage supports the blooms and keeps the plant healthy and graceful.
