Bearded iris 'Red Orchid'

Iris germanica 'Red Orchid' features velvety flowers in rich shades of red and purple that bring bold elegance to the garden. During May and June, large blooms appear on strong flower stems, floating gracefully above the foliage. The decorative sword-shaped leaves remain attractive long after flowering and perfectly complement the upright habit of this hardy bearded iris.

Care/Water

The Iris 'Red Orchid' requires regular watering throughout the growing season. The soil should be well-drained to prevent standing water. Consistent moisture supports strong roots and healthy foliage. Water in the morning during hot summer weeks to protect leaves and flowers.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers and old leaves to keep the plant compact and vital. Trim damaged leaves to encourage new shoots. Light pruning after flowering ensures abundant blooms next year.

Location

This Iris prefers a sunny location with good air circulation. Partial shade is tolerated but reduces flowering. An open spot protects the plant from fungal diseases and encourages healthy shoots.

Tip

Loosen the soil regularly and apply a thin mulch layer to retain moisture and nutrients. This greatly eases maintenance and protects the plant from drying out.

Iris germanica 'Red Orchid' combines fresh green foliage with flowers that give borders an intense and colorful accent. The foliage supports the blooms and keeps the plant healthy and graceful.
