Bearded iris 'Sultry Mood'

Iris germanica 'Sultry Mood' impresses with exceptionally dark flowers in deep purple to almost black-violet shades. The large, gently ruffled blooms appear in late spring, giving borders a mysterious and sophisticated atmosphere. Its grey-green foliage remains attractive for a long period, providing the perfect backdrop for the dramatic flower colour. This hardy variety thrives in sunny perennial plantings.

Care/Water

The Iris 'Sultry Mood' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during hot summer weeks. The soil should be loose and well-drained to prevent standing water that could damage the roots. Consistent moisture supports strong roots and healthy foliage. Morning watering protects leaves and flowers from drying out.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers and old leaves to maintain plant vitality. Trim damaged leaves to keep the plant compact. Light pruning after flowering ensures abundant blooms next year.

Location

This Iris thrives in a sunny, well-ventilated location. Partial shade is tolerated but reduces flowering. An open spot protects the plant from fungal diseases and promotes healthy shoots.

Tip

Loosen the soil regularly and apply a thin mulch layer to retain moisture and nutrients. This makes maintenance easier and keeps the plant healthy.

Iris germanica 'Sultry Mood' offers fresh green foliage with flowers that give borders a warm and elegant look. The foliage supports the blooms and keeps the plant healthy and attractive.
