Bearded iris 'Tuxedo'

Iris germanica 'Tuxedo' lives up to its elegant name with its dramatic bicoloured flowers. Crisp white standards contrast beautifully with deep violet falls, giving every bloom a sophisticated appearance. During late spring, these striking flowers rise above the grey-green foliage to create bold garden accents. This vigorous bearded iris adds structure, elegance, and timeless style to sunny planting schemes.

Care/Water

The Iris 'Tuxedo' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially in hot weather. The soil should always be moist but well-drained to prevent standing water. Water at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal infections. Consistent watering ensures strong roots and healthy leaf growth.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers so the plant can focus its energy on new buds. Allow leaves to die back naturally after flowering before cutting them. Use organic fertilizer to strengthen the plant and promote next year’s blooms. Check for damaged leaves and remove them promptly.

Location

The Iris 'Tuxedo' prefers a sunny spot with good air circulation. Partial shade is tolerated but reduces flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent waterlogging. An open position protects the plant from fungal diseases.

Tip

A helpful tip for the Iris 'Tuxedo' is to loosen the soil after flowering and apply a mulch layer to retain moisture and nutrients. This supports the plant and makes maintenance much easier.

Iris germanica 'Tuxedo' offers fresh green foliage with flowers that give borders a striking and stylish accent. The foliage supports the blooms and keeps the plant healthy and attractive.
