Dwarf iris 'Lilly White'

Iris pumila 'Lilly White' impresses with large, pure white flowers that bring elegance and freshness to the garden early in the season. The narrow grey-green foliage forms compact clumps that perfectly complement the crisp white blooms. This hardy dwarf bearded iris is ideal for rock gardens, border edges, and sunny plantings where it provides subtle yet stylish accents.

Care/Water

The Iris pumila 'Lilly White' requires regular watering throughout the growing season, especially during warm weather. The soil should always be slightly moist, well-drained, and nutrient-rich to support healthy growth and strong blooms. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent moisture promotes strong shoots and healthy leaves.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to allow the plant to focus energy on new buds. Trim old or damaged leaves after flowering. Use organic fertilizer in spring to support growth and flowering. Check the plant regularly for pests or diseased leaves.

Location

This Iris thrives in a sunny location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained. An open spot promotes vigorous shoots and healthy foliage.

Tip

A helpful tip is to apply a thin mulch layer around the plant after flowering to retain moisture and nutrients. This keeps the plant vital and supports the next flowering period. Regular checks make maintenance much easier.

Iris pumila 'Lilly White' combines fresh green foliage with flowers that give rock gardens and borders a pure white accent. The foliage supports the blooms and keeps the plant healthy and graceful.
