Dwarf iris 'Path of Gold'

Iris pumila 'Path of Gold' brightens the spring garden with brilliant golden-yellow flowers. From April onwards, the large blooms rise above the low sword-shaped foliage, creating cheerful colour accents in sunny plantings. This hardy dwarf bearded iris has a compact habit and is ideal for rock gardens, dry stone walls, and low perennial borders. Its balanced growth ensures long-lasting garden performance.

Care/Water

The Iris pumila 'Path of Gold' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during warm weather. The soil should always be slightly moist, well-drained, and nutrient-rich to develop strong shoots and healthy leaves. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent moisture supports flowering and strong plant development.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to direct energy toward new buds. Trim old or damaged leaves after flowering to promote healthy growth. Use organic fertilizer in spring to support flowering and overall growth. Check the plant regularly for pests or diseased leaves.

Location

This Iris thrives in a sunny location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. An open spot promotes vigorous shoots and healthy foliage.

Tip

A helpful tip is to apply a thin mulch layer around the plant after flowering to retain moisture and nutrients. This keeps the plant vital and ready for the next flowering period. Regular checks make maintenance easier.

Iris pumila 'Path of Gold' stands out with compact fresh foliage and warm golden-yellow flowers that enliven rock gardens and borders. The foliage supports the plant's vitality and keeps it attractive.
