Siberian iris 'Dear Delight'

Iris sibirica 'Dear Delight' features delicate creamy white flowers with subtle yellow highlights. The blooms appear in late spring on slender stems, creating an elegant contrast with the fresh green, grass-like foliage. This hardy clump-forming iris brings natural elegance to sunny and partially shaded perennial borders. Its open flowers are also appreciated by bees and other pollinators.

Care/Water

The Iris sibirica 'Dear Delight' requires regular watering throughout the growing season, especially during warm weather. The soil should always be slightly moist, well-drained, and nutrient-rich to support strong shoots, healthy foliage, and abundant flowering. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent moisture ensures long-lasting blooms and vigorous plant growth.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to allow the plant to focus energy on new buds. Trim old or damaged leaves after flowering to promote healthy growth. Use organic fertilizer in spring to support flowering and overall development. Check the plant regularly for pests or diseases.

Location

This Iris thrives in a sunny to partially shaded location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. An open spot supports vigorous shoots and healthy foliage.

Tip

A helpful tip is to apply a thin mulch layer around the plant after flowering to retain moisture and nutrients. This encourages healthy development and prepares the plant for the next flowering period. Regular checks make maintenance easier.
