Creeping isotoma 'Alba'

Isotoma fluviatilis 'Alba' forms a dense, low-growing carpet of small fresh green leaves and is covered from spring through summer with countless pure white, star-shaped flowers. Its compact habit makes this hardy perennial an excellent ground cover between stepping stones, in rock gardens, or beside ponds. The delicate flowers create an elegant appearance and are frequently visited by small pollinators.

Care/Water

Isotoma fluviatilis 'Alba' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially in dry summer months. The soil should always be slightly moist, well-drained, and nutrient-rich to encourage strong shoots, healthy foliage, and abundant flowering. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent watering supports vitality and rich flowering.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to direct the plant's energy toward new growth. Trim old or damaged leaves after flowering to promote healthy growth. Organic fertilizer in spring supports flowering and strong plants. Regular checks for pests or diseases are recommended.

Location

This Isotoma thrives in a sunny to partially shaded location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. An open location promotes vigorous shoots and healthy foliage.

Tip

A practical tip is to apply a mulch layer around the plant after flowering to retain moisture and nutrients. This makes maintenance easier and supports healthy plants for the next flowering period. Regular checks keep the plant vital and healthy.
