The decorative foliage makes the plant appealing even before flowering begins. From summer into autumn, numerous blooms appear on slender stems and attract many pollinators. This hardy perennial adds colour and structure to sunny borders and naturalistic gardens.

Care/Water

Knautia macedonica 'Thunder & Lightning' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially on hot or dry days. The soil should always be slightly moist, well-drained, and nutrient-rich to support strong shoots, healthy foliage, and abundant blooms. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent watering supports healthy plants and extended flowering periods.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers so the plant can focus its energy on new buds. Trim old or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth. Organic fertilizer in spring supports flowering and strong plants. Check the plant regularly for pests or diseases to maintain long-term vitality.

Location

This Knautia grows best in a sunny location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. Open locations promote vigorous shoots, healthy foliage, and abundant blooms.
