Red hot poker 'Banana Popsicle'

Kniphofia 'Banana Popsicle' delights with compact flower spikes in a bright, cheerful yellow. From summer into early autumn, the striking blooms rise above the narrow, grass-like foliage, adding fresh colour to the garden. Its compact habit makes it ideal for smaller borders and containers. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies.

Care/Water

Kniphofia 'Banana Popsicle' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during warm and dry weather. The soil should be well-drained, slightly moist, and nutrient-rich to support strong shoots and healthy leaves. Water directly at the roots and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent watering supports healthy plants and abundant blooms.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to allow the plant to focus its energy on new buds. Trim old or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth. Organic fertilizer in spring supports flowering and strong plants. Check regularly for pests or diseases to maintain vitality.

Location

This Kniphofia grows best in a sunny location with good air circulation. Partial shade is possible but may reduce flowering. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. Open locations promote vigorous shoots and healthy leaves.

Tip

A helpful tip is to apply a mulch layer after flowering to retain moisture and nutrients. This makes maintenance easier and supports healthy plants for the next flowering season. Regular checks keep the plant vital and healthy.
