Lavandin 'Phenomenal'

Lavandula intermedia 'Phenomenal' is known for its vigorous growth, silvery grey foliage, and long violet-blue flower spikes. Throughout summer, the fragrant blooms provide abundant nectar for bees and butterflies. This exceptionally robust lavender remains attractive even in changing weather conditions, bringing Mediterranean character to sunny borders, gravel gardens, and mixed plantings.

Care/Water

Lavandula intermedia 'Phenomenal' requires regular and consistent watering during the growing season, especially during hot and dry periods. The soil should be well-drained, humus-rich, and slightly alkaline to support strong shoots and healthy blooms. Water at the base and avoid wetting the foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent watering ensures healthy plants and long-lasting flowering for several weeks.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers so the plant can focus its energy on new shoots and blooms. Light pruning in spring and after flowering keeps the plant compact and promotes healthy leaves and shoots. Organic fertilizer in spring supports strong growth and abundant blooms. Check regularly for pests.

Location

This lavender prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. Partial shade is possible but may result in less abundant flowering. Open, lightly sheltered locations encourage healthy plants, strong shoots, and a long flowering period.

Tip

After flowering, apply a mulch layer around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds. Regular removal of faded blooms keeps the plant healthy and extends the flowering period through summer.

Lavandula intermedia 'Phenomenal' features aromatic, fresh foliage and vibrant purple blooms, adding lively accents to beds and borders. The foliage supports the flowers and contributes to plant health.
