Perennial flax

Linum perenne brightens the garden with countless silky sky-blue flowers that open fresh each day from May through July. Its fine upright stems create a light and graceful appearance, making it an excellent addition to naturalistic gardens and sunny perennial borders. The slender foliage enhances its delicate character, while the flowers are eagerly visited by bees and other pollinators.

Care/Water

Linum perenne requires regular watering during the growing season, especially in dry periods. The soil should be well-drained, nutrient-rich, and slightly moist to develop strong shoots and healthy flowers. Water at the base and avoid wetting foliage to prevent fungal diseases. Consistent moisture supports flowering and plant vitality.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to keep the plant healthy and encourage new shoots. Pruning after flowering promotes a compact growth habit and strong plants. Organic fertilizer in spring strengthens leaves and flowers. Check the plant for pests.

Location

This Linum prefers sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. Avoid waterlogging as it can damage the roots. Open and airy spots promote healthy plant development and strong flowering.

Tip

Lightly mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds. This supports plant health and ensures abundant flowering throughout the season.
