Parthenium

Parthenium integrifolium develops strong upright flower stems topped with numerous creamy white flower heads from midsummer into early autumn. Dense clumps of dark green, lightly hairy foliage enhance the natural character of this North American prairie perennial. This hardy species is ideal for prairie gardens and naturalistic plantings, attracting bees, butterflies, and many other pollinating insects.

Care/Water

Parthenium integrifolium requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during dry summer months. The soil should be humus-rich, well-drained, and evenly moist to promote strong shoots and abundant blooms. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot. Even moisture supports healthy plant growth.

Maintenance

Regularly remove faded flowers to encourage new blooms. Cut back weak or damaged shoots in spring. Organic fertilization in spring supports strong stems and healthy roots. Inspect the plant for pests to intervene early if necessary.

Location

Parthenium integrifolium prefers a sunny to partially shaded location with well-drained, humus-rich soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering, while partial shade protects the foliage. Ideal for beds, borders, or group plantings. A breezy location prevents disease.

Tip

This plant is perfect for beds, borders, or naturalistic gardens. Group planting creates a dense, flowering display. Remove old flowers regularly to encourage new blooms. Mulching helps retain moisture and reduce weeds.

Parthenium integrifolium delights with white to light pink flowers that enhance beds, borders, and rock gardens.
