Carex pendula Pendulous Sedge is a graceful, arching grass-like perennial perfect for damp soils and light shade. Native to Europe, tolerant of shade, and with soft pendulous stems, it brings a delicate, natural presence to any space. Its tidy clumps create a calm, natural texture with deep-green blades that catch light beautifully. Order Carex pendula Pendulous Sedge now and enrich your garden with a native plant that blends seamlessly into lush, verdant spaces.

Verzorging / Water

Carex pendula prefers moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade. Keep soil evenly moist, not waterlogged; water during dry spells and mulch to retain moisture.

Onderhoud

In spring remove spent fronds and divide clumps every 3–5 years if crowded. Feed lightly with a balanced slow-release fertilizer.

Standplaats

Plant in shaded to dappled sun, in fertile, well-drained but moisture-retentive soil. Avoid strong winds and harsh sun that can bend pendulous stems.

Tips

Mulch annually, keep weeds down, and check for pests; if winter winds are severe, place in a sheltered spot near a hedge or wall.

Carex pendula, the pendulous sedge, gives garden designs an elegant, cascading structure with long, flexible culms and airy, open-plume blooms. This ornamental grass creates subtle contrast between leaf textures and adds depth to evergreen compositions. As an evergreen ornamental grass and a beloved garden plant, it fits into diverse planting styles and enhances the natural character of borders and arrangements.
