Mountain fleece 'Golden Arrow'

Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Golden Arrow' combines bright yellow-green foliage with contrasting red flower spikes that appear from midsummer into autumn. Even before flowering, its striking foliage adds luminous colour to the border. This hardy perennial has a bushy habit and creates vibrant colour contrasts in sunny to partially shaded plantings. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers regularly.

Care/Water

Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Golden Arrow' requires regular watering during the growing season, especially during warm and dry periods. The soil should be humus-rich, loose, and well-drained to support healthy root development. Avoid waterlogged conditions, as they may cause root rot. Consistent moisture promotes strong growth and prolonged flowering.

Maintenance

Remove faded flower spikes regularly to encourage new blooms. Prune the plant back after flowering or in early spring to maintain a compact shape. Organic fertilization in spring supports vigorous growth and strong roots. Occasionally check the plant for pests or diseases.

Location

Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Golden Arrow' thrives in sunny to partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. Full sun encourages abundant flowering and sturdy stems. Partial shade is well tolerated and helps protect the foliage. Ideal for borders and larger planting areas.

Tip

Apply a mulch layer around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Planting several specimens together creates a full, natural look. Regular care significantly extends the flowering season. A reliable perennial for low-maintenance gardens.
