White butterbur

Petasites albus develops large, heart-shaped leaves that create dense stands after flowering and give moist garden areas a lush appearance. In early spring, upright flower stems with creamy white flowers appear before the foliage emerges. This native perennial is particularly suitable for pond edges, stream banks, and naturalistic plantings.

Watering and Care

Petasites albus performs best in a well-prepared garden soil that offers both good drainage and sufficient moisture retention. During dry spells, supplemental watering helps maintain strong growth and allows the plant to display its full ornamental value. Consistent moisture levels also support healthy foliage and reliable flowering.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance keeps the plant looking attractive throughout the season. Removing faded flowers, damaged leaves and older stems encourages fresh growth and helps maintain a tidy appearance.

Location

A suitable location with the right balance of light and space allows the plant to thrive. Well-aerated soil and good air circulation contribute to long-term health and vigor.
