In bloom, airy panicles rise above the foliage, delivering subtle movement and a soft, appealing presence. This drought-tolerant grass handles heat and dry spells with resilience and versatility.
A friendly, eco-conscious choice, it is pollinator-friendly and wildlife-friendly, bringing life to the landscape while maintaining a gentle, natural rhythm across seasons.
Care & Watering
Prairie Dropseed thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Water deeply after planting; once established, it’s drought-tolerant and prefers infrequent watering. Avoid soggy soils to prevent root rot.
Maintenance
Cut back in late winter to renew foliage; remove dead blades and divide every 3-4 years to maintain vigor. Mulch lightly to retain moisture.

Plant in sunny borders or meadow-style beds. Space about 18-24 inches apart. Tip: let the airy seed heads stand for winter interest; use as an ornamental grass in mixed borders.
