Pinnate coneflower

Ratibida pinnata brings a natural prairie character to the garden with its golden-yellow flowers and distinctive elongated dark brown flower cones. The upright blooms appear from July to September above finely divided foliage and are intensively visited by bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. This hardy wild perennial is ideal for sunny natural gardens, prairie borders, and species-rich plantings.

Watering and Care

Ratibida pinnata performs best in a well-prepared garden soil that offers both good drainage and sufficient moisture retention. During dry spells, supplemental watering helps maintain strong growth and allows the plant to display its full ornamental value. Consistent moisture levels also support healthy foliage and reliable flowering.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance keeps the plant looking attractive throughout the season. Removing faded flowers, damaged leaves and older stems encourages fresh growth and helps maintain a tidy appearance.

Location

A suitable location with the right balance of light and space allows the plant to thrive. Well-aerated soil and good air circulation contribute to long-term health and vigor.
