  • Compact shrub with lush flowering in spring.
  • Bright pink flowers that add color to borders.
  • Suitable for acidic soil and partial shade.
  • Good winter hardiness and low maintenance.
  • Perfect for garden and terrace as an ornamental plant.
Rhododendron 'Alfred' is a compact, hardy evergreen shrub with abundant, velvety blooms in spring. Its lush, dark-green foliage provides year-round appeal, and the natural, balanced shape keeps a tidy presence in the border. Compact growth and hardy temperament make it a standout choice. This robust shrub thrives from partial shade to light sun, delivering a long-lasting display of color and texture. The vibrant blossoms contrast beautifully with evergreen leaves, creating visual interest across seasons. Long-lasting color and seasonal charm define its appeal. Ideal for structure and focal points in the garden, Rhododendron 'Alfred' adds depth without overwhelming surrounding plantings. Its graceful, enduring form pairs well with other perennials, shrubs, and trees for a harmonious landscape. Elegant structure and seasonal impact set it apart.

Care and Watering

Water deeply to keep roots evenly moist but never soggy. Rhododendron 'Alfred' loves acidic, well‑drained soil (pH 4.5–6.0). Mulch to retain moisture and feed with a slow‑release, acid‑loving fertilizer after flowering.

Maintenance

Remove spent blooms and prune lightly after flowering to shape and remove dead wood. Avoid heavy pruning; new shoots on old wood may not bloom. Monitor for pests and root issues.

Location

Choose a sheltered spot with dappled shade and protection from hot afternoon sun and strong winds. Ensure rich organic matter and excellent drainage to keep soil acidic.

Tips

Apply pine needle mulch annually, water in dry spells, and use rainwater if possible. In harsh winters, shield plants in exposed sites.

Rhododendron 'Alfred' is a showstopper: large deep-pink flowers in lush clusters that immediately attract attention. The full bloom calyx provides a luxurious, striking display that enriches every season. With an elegant, compact habit and high ornamental value, 'Alfred' offers lasting color and structure as a striking focal point.
