White stonecrop

Sedum album forms dense carpets of small, fleshy fresh green leaves that often develop reddish tones in winter and in full sun. During summer, masses of star-shaped white flowers appear in loose clusters, attracting bees and many other pollinators. This hardy species is ideal for rock gardens, green roofs, dry stone walls, and sunny planting areas.

Watering and Care

Sedum album is well adapted to dry conditions thanks to its water-storing foliage. Once established, it requires very little supplemental watering. During extended droughts, occasional irrigation may be beneficial, but consistently wet soil should be avoided to maintain healthy roots.

Maintenance

This species is exceptionally easy to care for. Flower stems can be removed after blooming if desired, though the plant remains attractive even without intervention. It gradually spreads to form dense mats that suppress weeds naturally.

Location

Choose a sunny or lightly shaded location with excellent drainage. Sedum album performs beautifully in rockeries, gravel gardens, wall crevices, and green roofs. Seasonal color changes in the foliage add extra ornamental value.

Tip

Plant it alongside other drought-tolerant perennials to create a long-lasting, low-maintenance planting scheme rich in texture and seasonal interest.

Sedum album delights with white blooms that turn flower beds, borders, and rock gardens into a bright summer display. Especially decorative when paired with red or purple perennials for striking color contrasts.

The blooms attract bees and butterflies, adding lively energy to the plantings.
