Showy stonecrop 'Meteor'

Sedum spectabile 'Meteor' bears large, vivid rosy-red flower heads that rise impressively above blue-green succulent foliage in late summer. Its upright habit adds structure to perennial borders while providing rich colour well into autumn. This hardy variety is an excellent nectar source for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.

Watering and Care

Sedum spectabile 'Meteor' thrives in moderately dry to fresh soil and requires only occasional watering once established. During extended dry periods, supplemental watering may be beneficial, but consistently wet conditions should be avoided. Its succulent foliage helps the plant tolerate heat and drought.

Maintenance

Spent flower heads can be left in place through winter for ornamental value and removed in early spring. Cutting back old stems before new growth emerges keeps the plant healthy and attractive throughout the growing season.

Location

Plant in full sun and well-drained soil for the best flowering performance. This variety fits beautifully into perennial borders, prairie-style gardens, and pollinator-friendly planting schemes.

Tip

Leave the seed heads standing during winter to add structure to the garden and provide seasonal interest long after flowering has finished.

Sedum spectabile 'Meteor' delights with dense, pink flower clusters that enhance flower beds, borders, and rock gardens in summer. Especially decorative in group plantings or when combined with blue or white perennials.

The blooms attract bees and butterflies, providing visual highlights.
